Las Posadas
A choice of two delightful establishments to suit all budgets. After 4 and a half years we have fulfilled our dream of being able to offer our guests an exclusive exterior space available to guests staying at both Posadas.
La Posada de Alájar is a welcoming 18th Century Inn in the very centre of Alájar with both double and twin rooms and the attic family room. La Posada de San Marcos, also in Alájar, is a low impact environmentally friendly building with gardens and pool that look onto the stream and cork oaks behind us. All the rooms have large south facing terraces overlooking the terraces and garden.
Experiences
This park is an uncut diamond a guest once told us! Alájar’s geographic position in the park provides the perfect base for a range of activities and unforgettable experiences – from walks both relaxed and challenging, to Ham and Olive Oil tasting, canyoning, horse riding, mountain biking and Nordic walking.
Food
The area is renowned for Iberian Ham. Ham produced from the native black pig, reared free range in this area and fed on acorns towards the end of its life. But it isn’t only the ham that’s fantastic. The quality of all pork produced in the area is impossible to find even close by in Seville. We know the best places to eat, the best places to buy ham and other charcuterie. As a trained chef, Lucy also provides delicious home cooked food using as much local and organic ingredients as possible.
Environment & Area
Ever since we moved to Alájar to run La Posada de Alájar we have always been focused on the environment. We implemented the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), installed solar panels for the hot water system and have a policy fully in tune with the environment. With our new project we were able to introduce even more low impact and environmentally friendly ideas in the actual build such as ground source energy, rain and well water collection to reuse in the cisterns and recover, restore and reuse materials from the original build.
The Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche natural park is a member of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and we were one of the first companies to become a partner. We are committed to developing tourism in the area in the most sustainable way possible.
